Visit of Dr. Baltej Singh Mann, [Member of National Commission for Minority Educational Institutions in the Ministry of Human Resource Development] and S. Narinder Jit Singh Bindra [ Chairman of Uttarakhand Commission of Minorities ] visited Guru Nanak Fifth Centenary School, Mussoorie. It was a proud moment for the school to also have here with us S. Narinder Jit Singh Bindra alumni of GNFC School who studied here in 1970-71.
On 19th April 2018, these dignitaries visited the school and were welcomed by the Dean Mrs. N.D. Sawhney, the Principal Mr. Anil Tewari and the Administrative Officer Mr. Sunil Bakshi. On the occasion a special assembly was held at GNFCS Shangri-la.
The programme began with the singing of opening Shabad by the school choir. The prayer was conducted by the Dean Mrs. N.D. Sawhney. The news was read by Ms. Parmeet Sethi. Thought for the day was given by Ms. Ananya Tyagi and the article on ‘Curiosity’ was presented by Ms Sachleen Kaur. English Poem was presented by Ms. Mallika Chand.
Thereafter a very inspiring interaction session was conducted with students by Dr. Baltej Singh Mann who guided the students to make correct career choices to move forward on a personal roadmap and finally how to attain happiness in Life.
The relevant points for attainment of Happiness were
1] Be Positive
2] Do not compare
3] Count your blessings
He also advised the students to pursue a career with a sense of duty, dedication and discipline.
In his address to the school Mr. Narinder jeet Singh Bindra disclosed that he had been on the rolls of the school for a short time and was happy to visit the school after 40 years.
He said the children here at GNFCS were fortunate to receive holistic education which was not restricted to the Sikhs. He was happy to see the morals inculcated by the students as a part of value education imparted here.
He congratulated the school administration and the staff for their good work. He wished the students a bright future. Dr. Baltej Singh Mann and Mr. Narinder jit Singh Bindra were honoured by the Dean Mrs. N.D. Sawhney and the Principal Mr. Anil Tewari who presented them with shawls.
